Introducing Wakefield Equestrian 2024-25: Celebrating 10 Years at Beverly!

Did you know that the Wakefield School in Northern Virginia offers an equestrian team in BOTH middle and upper schools? The teams practice out of Beverly Equestrian (just 7 minutes away in The Plains) on Beverly school horses with their USEF Safe-Sport certified, insured, and trained coaches.

This program helps this busy students fit riding into their busy lives:

  • Students travel to Beverly on school buses during their PE block so riding lessons are fully integrated into their school day. No parent shuttling required!

  • Students ride Beverly horses – No horse ownership required!

  • Students compete in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), a national organization of shows organized by “host barns” that also provide the horses for the riders to ride in competition. No trailering to shows required!

Plus, this program can do even more for student riders, such as:

- Boost College Applications: Stand out in college admissions by showcasing your commitment and teamwork through athletic participation.

- Provide National Recognition: Shine bright on a national stage with opportunities for recognition through prestigious equestrian programs like USEF.

- Build Resilience: Our unique catch-riding format not only hones your riding skills but also builds resilience and life skills that will serve you well beyond the arena.

- Promote School Spirit: Be part of the a school team where middle and upper schoolers compete together, fostering a strong sense of community and camaraderie across school divisions.

And there’s more: Wakefield Equestrian is now in its 10th year at Beverly! Go Wakefield Owls! Get ready to shine in the ring!
