It's time to focus on the backbone of our sport: the adult amateur. Introducing our longtime client: Marta. Marta has been riding at Beverly for several years, and her journey exemplifies how Beverly can help the busy professional who wants to ride. At Beverly, Marta is able to balance riding with her career by utilizing our school horses, taking regular lessons on her schedule, and even participating in our onsite shows.

Marta's Riding Journey

Growing up in Germany, Marta had a great start in classical riding. Although a busy career took her around the world, she always kept horses close to her heart. When she found Beverly, she discovered the perfect way to balance her riding passion and career demands.

Marta is currently leasing Lorenzo, one of Beverly’s USHJA Recognized Riding Academy’s Lesson Horse Honor Roll recipients. Being a commuting professional, Marta can arrive at Beverly with her horse and trainer waiting and ready for her on her schedule.

Beverly's Systematic Program for Riding Success

When Marta told Beverly that she was ready to show, Beverly implemented a progressive and systematic plan to get there.

We started with the basics of controlling direction and pace at the walk and trot. We next refined her steering by practicing the types approaches to jumps that she could expect to see on a jumping track.

Then it was time to string multiple jumps together until she could competently jump a course of several jumps with frequent changes of direction.

Recognizing that riding requires both mental and physical fitness, her lessons focused on memorizing longer courses as well as the endurance necessary to ride for greater periods of time.

Recording Marta's Progress to Customize Her Program

Beverly recorded Marta's progress throughout the program, ensuring Marta didn’t miss a beat even if she had travel plans that interfered with her riding. Because of her limited time, Beverly confirmed her success at each level before proceeding to the next to avoid costly regression during the program.

Now, following weeks of effort and hard work, Marta is ready to make her show debut at Beverly.
