Understanding Jumper Divisions in the Prize List
In the Beverly Show Series, jumper divisions are categorized by name and height, making it easy to understand which classes are grouped together for division awards.

📌 How It Works:
Each division consists of multiple classes at the same height, using different scoring formats (e.g., Fastest Clear Round, Jump-Off, Power & Speed).
Divisions are visually distinguished in the prize list using shaded rows to help competitors quickly recognize which classes belong together.
Divisions are based on height and eligibility, ensuring fair competition.
Example of a Jumper Division in the Prize List
Puddle Jumpers (2’0” – 2’3”)
Class # | Name | Height (cm) | Height (in) | Table Format | Eligibility |
52 | Puddle Jumpers | 60 | 2’0” | IV.1 | All riders/horses/ponies |
53 | Puddle Jumpers | 60-65 | 2’0”-2’3” | II.2c | All riders/horses/ponies |
54 | Puddle Jumpers | 60-65 | 2’0”-2’3” | II.2b | All riders/horses/ponies |
🔹 These three classes make up the "Puddle Jumper" division—riders can compete in multiple formats at the same height and still be eligible for division awards.
Jumper Division Scoring: FIRST CLASS ENTRIES Determine the Point Scale
The first class of a jumper division (like in hunters) determines the point scale for all subsequent classes in that division.
Because jumpers allow divisions to run with just 2 entries (unliked in hunters), the point brackets are adjusted:
Scenario 1: Class 1 in a division has 7 entries, and Class 2 has 2 entries.
The 6-9 point scale applies to both classes in the division.
Scenario 2: Class 1 has 2 entries, and Class 2 has 7 entries.
The 2-5 point scale applies to both classes in the division.
Point Allocation (for each class within a division):
Placings | 2-5 Entries | 6-9 Entries | 10+ Entries |
1st | 10 | 11 | 12 |
2nd | 6 | 7 | 8 |
3rd | 4 | 5 | 6 |
4th | 2 | 3 | 4 |
5th | 1 | 2 | 3 |
6th | 0.5 | 1.5 | 2.5 |
Filling a Division for Champion/Reserve:
To award a Champion/Reserve, at least two classes in a division must have two or more entries.
If only one class meets this threshold, individual class points will still count toward year-end standings, but no division champion or reserve will be awarded.
Year-End Standings:
Jumper division points are awarded to the horse (like Hunters).
A horse accumulates points regardless of who rides it, as long as both riders are BHSA/VHSA registered.
Important Notes for All Divisions
Completion Matters: Points are awarded based on horses/riders who complete the class, not just those who enter.
Scratches, Falls & Excusals: If a rider enters but does not complete the class (e.g., falls off, goes off course, is excused), they do not count toward the number of entries needed to determine points.
Scoring Adjustments:
Riders should always confirm their class entry status at the in-gate.
Unjudged schooling rounds do not count toward division points.
